PROLOGUE
"Even you do not recall, and even i forget,
How wonderful that moment was, wasted for us yet." - D. Matthew
If i compose a verse,
Or read of something new,
A subject that concerns the world;
If i hear something uncommon,
Something
That might make you laugh,
A sentence
Which seems interesting,
Or some original idea;
If i am greeted by a sight
Which is stunning,
Some moment
Which touches my heart;
I store all these things
In the recesses of my mind,
And think...
That when we meet
I shall tell them all to you. EPILOGUE
"History repeats itself !"
We have all heard that, read that, been reminded of that (like here and now). But then why do the best parts always go astray and don't find a place in the repetition ?

Just to reflect upon the question you posed in the epilogue...Heraclitus may have the answer with his 'panta rei'
'everything is in flux and nothing abides
everything flows and nothing stays fixed
everything is constantly changing and nothing stays the same'
Lol, mr.Sharmaji..... we ve been checking the blog????
Finally, Sharmaji has found the time to write!! BTW, did someone 'ask' him to or does it depend on his own whims and fancies? And who the hell is 'ms s' ... or was that supposed to be 'missus' ... yours, Sir Nick?
Great to see you back in action! Things have been pretty quiet here ... clearly an indication, innit??
reminds me of an old song from the Hindi movie Silsila ..
Main aur meri tanhaai aksar yeh baatein karte hain
Tum hoti to kaisa hota, tum yeh kehti, tum voh kehti
Tum is baat pe hairaan hoti, tum us baat pe kitni hansti
Tum hoti to aisa hota, tum hoti to vaisa hota
Main aur meri tanhaai aksar yeh baatein karte hain
which translates as
I wonder in solitude (have I read this word before !!)
if you were here,
I could have listened to your words, seen your smile, your exclamations, your laughter.
If you were here .. I wonder in solitude !!!
Angler, no indications.. i believe that ppl were busy otherwise :-)
Anonymous: to be pedantic .. there was no song like that (per your quote) in Silsila. There were some monologues from AB .. which in fact was crafted as such by Javed Akhtar using snippets from some of his poems. One of these poems that i do recall was titled "Banjara". For clarity here is the complete monologue (with the "Banjara" portion in quotes):
Main aur meri tanhaiyan - aksar yeh baatain karte hain,
"Tum hoti to kaisa hota,
Tum yeh kahti, tum woh kahti,
Tum is baat pe hairaaan hoti,
Tum us baat pe kitna hasti,
Tum hoti to aisa hota,
Tum hoti to waisa hota",
Ke tum nahi ho, kaheen nahi ho,......magar yeh dil hai ke kah raha hai,
Ke tum yaheen ho, yaheen kaheen ho !,
Majbooriyon ki haalat, idhar bhi hai, udhar bhi,
Tanhaye ki ek raat idhar bhi hai udhar bhi,
Kahne ko bohot kuch hai magar kis se kahe hum,
Kab tak yoon hi khamosh rahain aur sahe hum,
Dil kahta hai duniya ki har ek rasam uthaa dain,
Diwar jo hum dono main hai aaj giraa dain,
Kya dil main sulagte rahain, logon ko bata dain,
Haan hum ko Mohabbat hai - Mohabbat hai - Mohabbat,
Ab dil main yehi baaaat, idhar bhi hai udhar bhi...... ,
Sab ko bata dain......... ,
Ab Ke Hum Bitchre To Shayad Kabhi Khawbon Main Mile,
Jis Tarah Sukhay Hue Patte Kitabon Main Mile,
Dhoond Ujray Hue Logon Main Wafa Ke Moti2,
Ye Khazane Tujhe Mumkin Hai Kharabon Main Mile ,
Ghum-e-Duniya Bhi Ghum-e-yaar Main Shamil Kar Loon,
Nasha Barhta Hai Sharabain Jo Sharabon Main Mile,
Tu Khuda Hai Na Mera Ishq Farishton Jaisa,
Dono Insaan Hain To Kyon Hijabon Main Mile,
Aaj Hum Dar Ye Khainchainge Jin Baton Par,
Kya Ajub Kal Woh Zamane Ko Nasibon Main Mile,
Ab Na Woh Hain, Na Woh Tu Hai, Na Woh Maze Hain Faraz,
Jaise Do Shakhs Tamanna Ke Sailabon Main Mile
Main aur meri tanhaiyan - aksar yeh baatain karte hain...
Dear Ms. S, I also understand and believe firmly that "The only constant in life is change". But still the question i posed was worth asking :-) Further to your comment : Heraclitus reminds me of a Greek Taoist. He believed that, although ultimate reality is One, the world we know is made of up dualities, with each pole requiring the existence of its opposite: Up requires down, white requires black, good requires bad, and so on.
And he sees these oppositions as being the source of harmony, pointing out that, unless you stretch your harp strings in two opposing directions, you cannot play music.
Prologue: He believed that the best way to live one’s life is in harmony with nature.
Epilogue: He died alone, at the age of 70, due to his intense dislike for human company!
